East Bedroom
This room really needed some help. For one there was really no useable closet space. The original closet had a 24″ door and was shared by the living room. A pair of small closets had been added to the room but they made it almost impossible to put a large bed in the room. The first chore was to remove another brick wall and get busy making a closet.
The new closet is cribed in and I opted for a plywood finish. Just a little added strength should I need to use the space as a hurricane hole. Anyway, a quick visit to the big box store to pick up a closet organizer and I have a useable closet.
I’ve removed the old paneling and dismantled one of the old closets. Don’t you just love the color of the wall. I think it’s Mustard :/ I was going to sheetrock the walls but after seeing how the lat strips were not staying secure I think I’m going to opt for decorative painted walls and nice trim work.
I’ve sheetrocked in the closet and applied a good primer base to the walls. I experimented with texture coating but the last paint job looked like enamel gloss and the texturing wasn’t working to well. I’ve also got the stinky old carpet out and will be stripping the linoleum up for the tile soon.
I started to lay tile today. I picked up a tile similiar to the colors I used on the walls. When the house was built they never pointed the cinder block, they just kinda half assed troweled the mortar making for an ugly wall. Since I’m not planning on re-rocking the walls I opted for a sponge texture to help hide the brickwork. The colors are a bit darker than what the photo shows. It’s more like coffee with lots of cream.
